The Wind Energy Institute of Canada partners with OSIsoft, LLC

The Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan) is pleased to partner with OSIsoft, LLC. WEICan recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with OSIsoft to formalize this relationship. OSIsoft will work with WEICan by providing the PI System® and technical expertise to assist in the development of data reporting architectures, which will be vital for performance benchmarking, system alarms, and research and development.

WEICan advances research in wind energy across Canada through technical testing and consultation; research, development and demonstration; and outreach. WEICan owns and operates a

10 MW Wind R&D Park, which includes a well-equipped 80 m IEC compliant meteorological tower.WEICan’s site also includes a 62 m meteorological tower and a small wind test bed with 14 test pads forsmall wind turbines. Collaboration is a critical component of research activities at WEICan, which works with government agencies, research institutes, industry stakeholders, and academia.

WEICan’s Scientific Director, Marianne Rodgers, says “I am excited about this partnership andthe possibilities the PI System® offers. Having the PI system organize data, provide reports, and issue alarms will be vital to both our wind turbine operations and our research program.”
