Utility Forum

The Utility Forum brings all ten Canadian provincial transmission system operators together to discuss issues of shared importance specific to the planning and operation of Canadian electrical power systems with high penetrations of non-synchronous generation technologies, such as wind, solar, and battery-electric storage. The group determines the challenges and capabilities that such non-synchronous sources offer through tasks that are demonstrations or reviews. WEICan provides secretariat duties to the Utility Forum, which includes supporting meeting planning, participating and contributing to research proposals, providing contract support for third parties, and supporting field demonstrations. See reports for Task 1 and Task 2.

The Wind Energy Institute of Canada advances the development of wind energy across Canada through research, testing, innovation and collaboration.
