Luichen Chang, UNB: Wind Power and Ramp Event Forecasting Technologies at UNB
This presentation will provide new technologies for day-ahead and hours-ahead wind power forecasting, as well as wind power ramp forecasting developed by the researchers at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), with support from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). New methodologies for short term wind power forecast were developed using the high-resolution data generated by the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Wind power ramp forecasting was developed based on a similarity search technology, again with an input of day-ahead wind speed forecasts from ECCC. The technologies were integrated to form a comprehensive wind forecasting tool.

The Wind Energy Institute of Canada advances the development of wind energy across Canada through research, testing, innovation and collaboration.
