Navid Farazmandnia, UQAR: Vibration Control of Wind Turbine Blades Using PZT
Nowadays, as the need for making longer wind turbine blades have been felt more due to providing better power output, vibration control techniques of such structures are in great focus. One of the promising vibration control methods, when the cold weather is a matter of concern is by using Piezoelectric Layers which can be used also for de-icing. Applying voltage to the PZT plates installed in appropriate position, results to absorb the vibration of the blade. This method has many advantages such as flexibility, quick response, and low power need.
