Canada has abundant resources, experience, and interested developers to support offshore wind development. The Environmental Energy Institute hosted an Offshore Renewables Working Group meeting to explore options for Canada’s involvement in the offshore wind industry and to determine how stakeholders can best position themselves to become key players in the rapidly growing offshore wind industry. The outcomes included a list of barriers and drivers as well as recommendations for Canadian businesses seeking out new opportunities in this sector. We are keen to follow the progress of offshore in Canada and potentially work with others to develop a supply chain database to identify expertise in the offshore industry in Canada and match it to the needs of global offshore wind projects.
